Woods Bay Flathead Lake

Southern view from front deck
Carved by pre-historic glaciers, Flathead Lake is approximately 30 miles long and 15 miles wide.  It covers nearly 180,000 surface acres, with several islands.  It's approximately 120 miles of shoreline contain the glacial waters of the largest natural fresh water lake west of the Mississippi River.
We are located in pristine Woods Bay just 3 miles south of Bigfork, Montana on the northeast end of Flathead Lake.

The sun can be deceivingly hot in Northwest Montana, and especially around the Lake.  The sun's rays reflect from the waves and even during cloudy days, sunburns are not uncommon and are very uncomfortable.

The cabin is a two bedroom one bath unit which easily sleeps six.  The master bedroom is furnished with a queen bed and two dressers for storage and includes a small closet.

The 2nd bedroom is furnished with two sets of bunkbeds to sleep four (4), a small closet and dresser

The bath contains a tub/shower combination, sink, toilet, and would you believe--cold AND hot running water.  A laundrymat is located at the top of the hill about 1/2 mile away.

Comfy, cozy Livingroom
The small but cozy livingroom is equipped with a large stone fireplace and small natural gas furnace for heat.  A television is also available and is supported by satellite on the Dish network on which approximately 50 channels are received.
The kitchenette contains an refrigerator/freezer combo, a 4-burner electric stove with oven and sink with and get this, hot AND cold running water.  It's furnishings include a kitchen table and pots, pans, flatware and holloware.

OTHER AMENITIES:

It is our pleasure to provide certain enhancements to help make your stay as relaxing and enjoyable as possible.  We do, however, ask your cooperation in preserving these items for the next guests.

  • You are encouraged to use the canoe, especially early in the morning and late afternoon when the water is usually quiet.  Please wear a life preserver and do not stray too far from shore.  Because stormy weather can be upon us quickly, please pull the canoe well out of the water when finished.  Additonally, please place the oars and life preservers in the back entry to the cabin for security reasons.
  • A propane gas BBQ is provided as a cooking option.  Please operate it carefully outside.

OTHER ACTIVITIES;

  • The Woods Bay Marina offers charter fishing on Flathead Lake.  Wave runners, boats and other water toys may also be rented.  Call 837-6038 for details.
  • A wonderful evening of dinner and theatre can be had three miles north of Woods Bay in Bigfork, Montana.  There are several good eateries in Bigfork, and the Bigfork Summer Playhouse offers musical repertory theatre from June thru August.  Call 837-9212 for information and reservations.
  • The Bigfork Art & Cultural Center located on the Main Street in Bigfork is a community-run, non-profit gallery, which exhibits artwork and crafts of local artists.  Call 837-6927 for special showing schedules.
  • About 60 miles north of Woods Bay is the CROWN JEWEL, GLACIER NATIONAL PARK.  A wonderful day-trip would include breakfast at 7am, an hour's drive to West Glacier and then proceeding up "Going to the Sun Road".  After a rest at the top of Logan Pass in the visitor's center or a short hike, continue down the east side of the continental divide to St. Mary's for another rest and lunch.  Back into the car for the return trip, allowing an hour to hike at the top of the pass again and dinner at Lake McDonald Lodge on the way home.  For those who would prefer, you may ride the antique Glacier Park Scenic Buses.
